Spring is VERY slow to arrive here in Winnipeg but that didn’t stop us from catching a stunning sunset view of the Winnipeg Skyline. Since I started professionally photographing couples, weddings, and adventure sessions I have wanted to catch the Winnipeg skyline! I haven’t really seen it done by other photographers much either, so that was a pro for me. I love getting creative and I love going for the unique shots while still keeping true to my couples’ story.
Jenny and Randy were SO much fun to work with and the weather was beautiful. We met up an hour before sunset, it was feeling like spring, and I had my couples playlist blasting through my phone speakers. Despite this being an iconic spot for Winnipeg there weren’t a lot of people walking around! I do love when we can get more intimate and find a quieter spot, so I was really pleased about that.
We started with some movement – if you know me by now, you know this is my favourite way to start a session. Even though we didn’t have a lot of space on the walking path (thanks snow) we were able to move around quite a bit!
Dancing is top 3 in my favourite things to ask couples to do. Not only does it make for some romantic photos with your person but its just SO much fun to twirl in your partner’s arms! Randy was definitely skeptical of my dancing requests at first but Jenny was so excited and it made her laugh so much, he quickly got into it.
Not every couple is big on PDA, and that’s cool, I am here to tell YOUR story. But I do love a good makeout 😉
I am such a sucker for detail shots and creative motion blur photos, I always feel that they add emotion and help tell the story of our session.
This shoot was an absolute dream, the weather was beautiful and the light reflecting off the Red River and Esplanade Foot Bridge was just so stunning! I’ll have to share a few before and after editing photos from this session because it was definitely a glow up! Hopefully one day I get lucky enough to photograph a wedding or a bride near this beautiful skyline. The Human Rights Museum, Forks, the Red River, and the Esplanade Foot Bridge all combine for a ‘wow’ backdrop. Thanks again Jenny and Randy, your session was so much fun!
