Manitoba is home to so many breathtaking outdoor wedding venues, each with its own charm and character! While I could go on forever about all the incredible options, today, I’m highlighting just five of my favourites—each offering something special for couples who love nature, open skies, and a little bit of magic.
If you’re the kind of couple who’d rather dance under the stars than a chandelier, this list is for you. These stunning venues offer the perfect mix of nature, romance, and a little bit of magic—ideal for those who want to make the outdoors a big part of their big day. For couples who feel most at home under an open sky, who crave the scent of fresh air and the sound of leaves rustling in the breeze, an outdoor wedding just makes sense!
Not all of these venues are completely outdoors, in fact most of them aren’t, but they have options and plenty of space to tailor it so more of your wedding is outside.
First up…
1. The White Poplar
Location: Selkirk, Manitoba
Vibe: Modern meets rustic, with dreamy prairie skies and an intimate atmosphere
The White Poplar is where countryside charm meets effortless elegance. Nestled in Manitoba’s Interlake region, this venue is known for its gorgeous white barn buildings, a breathtaking pond with fountain, and gorgeous sunsets. It’s the perfect spot for couples who want the natural beauty of the prairies to be front and centre in their wedding day.
Why Outdoor Lovers Will Adore It:
The White Poplar is surrounded by towering trees, making it an absolute dream for those who feel most at peace in the forest. They now offer a forest ceremony space as well, which is just waiting for a whimsical wedding! Another great thing about the White Poplar is that cocktail hour can easily be held outside, while making it a very natural flow into the reception space later on. Some of my favourite candid guest photos have come from this spot! There’s a sprawling yard leading from the reception to the pond, making it the perfect space for casual mingling outdoors.
2. Hawthorn Estates
Location: Selkirk, Manitoba
Vibe: Historic charm meets modern elegance, with lush gardens and serene surroundings
Hawthorn Estates is a hidden gem with a rich history and a whole lot of heart. The beautifully restored barn is a showstopper, but the real magic happens outdoors—where gardens, pathways, and towering trees set the scene for an enchanting celebration. I’m a little biased as this is where I had my wedding but I think Hawthorn Estates balances grounded, elegant, and woodsy beautifully! Another perk is the interior is so cozy, perfect for guests who need to sit during cocktail hour or who just want to find a quieter corner to chat. I loved seeing all the small groupings of people at my wedding and how my guests used the space!
Why You’ll Love It:
If you love the idea of getting married surrounded by greenery, Hawthorn Estates delivers. With endless outdoor spaces for your ceremony, photos, and cocktail hour, it feels like a secret garden made just for you. Seriously. From an outdoor swing (that made me feel like a forest fairy princess okay), a small bride, towering trees, and the gorgeous vines around the staircase. The venue offers two options for an outdoor ceremony, and backs onto a large field for glowy sunset photos. And the best part? There’s a covered outdoor space which means you don’t have to stress about the weather—just enjoy the view!
3. Kinloch Grove
Location: Matlock, Manitoba
Vibe: Secluded forest retreat with a cozy, romantic charm
Tucked away in Matlock—aka Manitoba’s cottage country—Kinloch Grove is a hidden little forest oasis designed for couples who want to feel like they’re stepping into a fairytale. With towering trees surrounding a dreamy ceremony space and a charming bridal cottage on-site, this venue is as intimate as it is magical. Plus, it’s just minutes from Matlock Pier and stunning lakeside spots, perfect for those golden-hour portraits.
Why Outdoor Lovers Will Adore It:
Kinloch Grove is perfect for couples who want to feel immersed in nature while still having cozy, well-thought-out spaces to celebrate. The forested ceremony site is lovely, and the nearby lake views make it a photographer’s dream. The reception takes place in a clear tent, allowing for you stay covered while still feeling like you’re outside! This venue is better suited for intimate weddings as it is a bit smaller in terms of size and flow between spaces.
4. Lily Stone Gardens
Location: Morris, Manitoba
Vibe: A working flower farm turned enchanting garden venue with serene pond views
Lily Stone Gardens isn’t just a wedding venue—it’s a living, breathing floral paradise! As a fully operational flower farm, this space is bursting with colour, fragrance, and natural beauty at every turn. The ceremony site is perfectly positioned to overlook the tranquil pond, while the charming bridal cottage offers a cozy retreat for getting ready. Every detail here feels intentional, creating a dreamy, nature-filled atmosphere that’s straight out of a storybook.
Why You’ll Love It:
If you’re drawn to the romance of lush gardens, fresh blooms, and a venue that evolves with the seasons, Lily Stone Gardens is an absolute dream. Imagine saying your vows surrounded by flowers grown right on-site, then celebrating under the stars in a space that feels intimate, magical, and utterly unique. The outdoor cocktail hour space is so intimate, with its string lights and rustic meets romantic furniture.
For the Sustainability-Focused Couple:
Planning a wedding at a flower farm means you’re reducing the need for imported blooms, embracing the beauty of locally grown flowers, and celebrating in an environment designed to nurture the land. If you’re looking to make eco-conscious choices without sacrificing elegance (or colour!), Lily Stone Gardens is the perfect fit.
5. The Gables Wedding Barn
Location: Riverton, Manitoba
Vibe: Cozy and rustic with a picturesque countryside setting
The Gables Wedding Barn is as charming as it gets. With its stunning white barn, open fields, and twinkling lights strung up for a cozy reception, this venue offers a warm and inviting atmosphere. The venue features exposed wood beams, handcrafted wooden tables, and a rich, rustic charm that brings the essence of nature inside. The getting ready suite is lit beautifully, with white wood panelling and plenty of space to hang out morning of. Surrounded by rolling countryside, this venue offers a cozy yet grand setting for couples who love the outdoors but also appreciate the comfort of a thoughtfully designed indoor space.
Why Outdoor Lovers Will Adore It:
This venue is all about embracing the great outdoors with a touch of modern. The large windows allow for plenty of natural light, while the warm wooden details make the reception feel like a continuation of the nature-filled ceremony outside. Or, you can just stay outside! The Gables offers the option to sit and eat outside, they even have a couple fire bowls for when evening rolls around! Whether you’re exchanging vows in an open field or dancing the night away under the twinkle lights, The Gables captures the magic of the outdoors in every detail.
Bonus: The Family Cabin
Location: Anywhere your heart feels at home.
Vibe: Intimate, nostalgic, and full of personal meaning
For some couples, the best outdoor venue isn’t a venue at all—it’s a family cabin, a lakeside retreat, or a beloved childhood getaway. There’s something undeniably special about getting married in a place filled with years of memories and personal history. Whether it’s a cozy log cabin in the woods or a spot by the lake where you’ve spent summers together, a family cabin wedding brings a level of intimacy and sentimentality that no traditional venue can replicate.
Why Nature Lovers Will Enjoy It:
It’s simple—nature, nostalgia, and a love story that feels completely your own. From a lakeside ceremony to bonfires with your closest people, a family cabin wedding is as personal and meaningful as it gets. And let’s be honest, waking up to the sounds of birds and the smell of pine trees on your wedding day? Absolute perfection.
Final Thoughts
Choosing an outdoor venue isn’t just about the view—it’s about the feeling. The fresh air, the golden light, the connection to something bigger than yourself. Whether you’re drawn to open fields, lakeside serenity, or secret garden vibes, these venues (and the beloved family cabin option) offer the perfect backdrop for couples who want their love story to unfold in nature’s embrace.
